Jury selection begins in 3rd St. Louis talcum powder trial

Oct. 4, 2016 – San Diego, CA — Jury selection continues in the third talcum powder trial held in Missouri state court.

CBS St. Louis reported a pool of 50 jurors was to be trimmed down to 12 yesterday.

The prospective jurors reportedly faced questions of potential bias during jury selection, including whether or not the flood of lawyers’ advertisements regarding the talcum-powder ovarian-cancer suits would affect their impartiality.

Prospective jurors were also asked about cancer in their own families and whether or not they could set aside their emotions to hear the evidence, CBS St. Loius reported.

Opening arguments in the third talcum powder lawsuit were expected to begin today.

The trial is centered on plaintiff Deborah Giannecchini, a Modesto, Calif. woman who claims Johnson & Johnson’s talcum powder caused her to develop ovarian cancer.

Two other jury trials in St. Louis ended in multi-million-dollar verdicts for the plaintiffs.

The case is Tiffany Hogans, et al.v. Johnson and Johnson, et al (1422-CC09012-02) in the 22^nd Circuit Court in the City of St. Louis.
