Doctor’s are under pressure from big pharmaceutical companies to prescribe as much medication as they can. Even if that means prescribing it for things the drug isn’t suppose to be used for.
This is called off-label use, and it’s a tactic that some drug companies do in order to increase sales. The FDA is aware of many off label usage, but they can’t keep up with this continuing practice since new drugs are coming out every year.
You may feel terrible that your baby was born with a cleft palate or lip or worse, a heart condition. But DO NOT BLAME YOURSELF! It’s not your fault. It’s the fault of the drug manufacturer using loop-holes in the system in order to profit, not make you well.
Drug sales representatives don’t know or don’t tell the doctor that Zofran was never approved by the FDA for use in pregnant women. Bottom line here, Zofran was originally designed for use in chemotherapy patients to help with nausea, not for women with morning sickness.
We understand that you trusted a medical professional; we all want to believe what they tell us about our health, but when drugs are used off label, then it’s like the entire population is being used like guinea pigs.
Over the last couple months we’ve heard from many women that were prescribed Zofran and had a child born with a birth defect. It’s difficult for us to hear these tragic stories, and listen to the pain in the voices of these victims. We will hold the drug manufacturer accountable in a class action lawsuit for this off label use; we never sue the doctors, nurses or hospital, only the makers of drugs who seek to profit over our health.
If you or someone you know took Zofran and had a baby born with these side effects please give us a call.
